Do you want to lead a competent team while also contributing operationally to developing and streamlining the management of a government organization? We are looking for an engaged and strategic manager for the management support, who combines leadership with specialist knowledge and the drive to develop working methods and processes.

About the role

As the manager for management support, you have overall responsibility for the Special Schools operational area’s management support unit and its functions. You have operational, budget, personnel, and work environment responsibility for your employees in the unit. You lead a cross-functional team that supports the operational area's management in matters such as administrative support, operational management, finance, HR, communication, and process management. You are part of a team with three other management support managers. The role as unit manager for management support means that you work closely with the operational area manager and the operational area's management team. We are now starting up four new units for management support where you will have the opportunity to build a completely new unit in collaboration with the other management support managers.

Your role is both strategic and operational. In addition to leading and developing the management support unit, you will also work on tasks related to developing the agency's ability to manage and follow up on operations effectively and appropriately.

You play a key role in ensuring that the unit's employees work cross-functionally and follow the routines, processes, and working methods decided by the agency. You also collaborate with other managers within the organization to ensure consistency and coordination.

The role of unit manager for management support is not static but will change according to the needs of the operations. You will play a key role in contributing to the agency's ongoing transformation journey in building working methods and culture to succeed in our important societal assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The role is part of the operational area's management team
  • Lead, develop, and coordinate the unit's work and employees.
  • Be responsible for leading and developing the work with management and follow-up within the operational area.
  • Work operationally with issues related to the development of processes, routines, and working methods for effective management.
  • Ensure compliance with the agency's guidelines, policies, and decision-making processes within the operational area.
  • Participate in development projects related to management, follow-up, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other management support, the agency's management team, central support functions, and other operational areas to create consistency and synergy effects.
  • Follow up and report the operational area's compliance with routines and guidelines to management.
  • You have operational, budget, personnel, and work environment responsibility for your employees in the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant academic education, for example in public administration, economics, leadership, or another equivalent field.
  • Documented managerial experience in leading and developing professional functions at a strategic level, for example as a finance manager, administrative manager, or equivalent.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Experience in operational management, follow-up, and process development.
  • Documented experience of overall responsibility for comprehensive work with financial management, operational development, operational management, and follow-up within a government organization or other public sector.
  • Experience in developing and implementing working methods, routines, and processes at a strategic level.
  • Ability to express yourself well in spoken or sign language in Swedish and in writing.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from working within or supporting school operations.

Personal qualities

You are a confident and clear leader who creates engagement and motivation among your employees. You have a strategic overview and the ability to translate overarching goals into concrete results. You are structured and solution-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and drive work forward. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working cross-functionally to create common solutions. You are communicative and can handle both strategic and operational issues in a pedagogical manner. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

A probationary period of 6 months applies.
